Matthew Tucker
Chairman
Matthew is the interim chair of the newly formed Caerphilly Business Club. He has worked in the training and education sector for 20 years working in both the private and public sector.
Matthew is the strategic lead for the Colleges WBL, Business Development and international department. He has an excellent understanding of the work-based learning environment, current skills priorities and the needs of employers. He is well connected with local industry and actively engaged in different networks and boards including CCBC Apprenticeship Board (PSB), CBI, Treforest Business Growth, RCT Strategic Employment Group, RCT Gatsby Strategic Board and Colleges Wales Strategic Group.
Matthew has been influential in leading the college’s Business and International department, developing key business relationships across Europe and the world, including Vietnam, China, India, South Africa, Malaysia and has developed and led on sector specific training. Alongside this he has led the growth of the college’s external income from £1.2 million to over £6.2m in 5 years.
Matthew believes that the success to business is developing partnerships based on three simple values, trust, honesty and transparency.
Matthew is excited to take on the challenge of reenergising the Caerphilly Business Club and achieving its objectives. “The forum needs to be the voice of business in Caerphilly, The opportunities in Caerphilly Region, Wales and UK are greater than ever, we want our local businesses to be sustainable, grow and contribute to the economic success of Wales and the UK. Together we can support each other in making this happen”.
Hobbies & Interests
Matthew has been influential in the success of Penallta RFC over the last decade, former 1st team coach, Matthew has now devoted his time to the mini and junior section where he currently coaches Penallta u11s. His own rugby career included time at Penallta, Newbridge, Blackwood and Newport. Enjoys beach walks, spending time in West Wales and being with his wife and children.
