Caerphilly Business Forum Awards 2018: Winners Stories: Maid to Help Cleaning Specialist

Maid to Help Cleaning Specialists won Small Business of the Year at this year's awards, which was kindly sponsored by Coffee 37. We caught up with them after, here's what they had to say:

1.) How did it feel to win a Caerphilly Business Forum Award?

This is our first time ever entering for any sort of awards, so we were unsure whether we would even be considered for the shortlist. We had no idea what to expect but the warm welcome from the organisation and everybody in the room put us straight to ease! It was fantastic to just be shortlisted for the award, but to win the award felt like an absolute dream!

2.) How did you find the experience of the Awards night?

The awards night itself was a fantastic experience in a beautiful venue, the atmosphere was great to be amongst such a huge number of Caerphilly business people. The food was also delicious!

3.) How do you strive to make a difference in the Caerphilly business market?

We have a very large domestic client base and we provide support to many people across the local area. However, we also support a lot if businesses large and small, throughout the borough, Cardiff and Newport. By providing services to other local businesses, it encourages local businesses to trade together. By working with these businesses, it supports not only the individual businesses involved, but also the Caerphilly business market as a whole.

4.) What are your goals for the next 12 months?

We have 5 major goals over the next 12 months. These are:

1.     To increase out productivity in the residential areas that we already cover

2.     To add 20 commercial Caerphilly based businesses to our client base

3.     To increase our turnover by more than 500% 2018-2019, which is what we did 2017 - 2018

4.     To create job opportunities for another 20 people in the local area

5.     To expand our services by supplying hygiene products and offering sharps disposal

5.) What is the biggest lesson you have learned in the last 12 months of your business?

To grow as a business, you need to believe and invest in yourself and your business. Taking risks and working to make sure that they pay off is absolutely vital. Staying in your comfort zone means that you will stay exactly where you are.

6.) What one piece of advice would you give to any aspiring entrepreneurs?

Find your market, develop your product or service to the highest possible standard, be proud of and believe in your business, provide an honest service to your clients.
