Caerphilly Business Forum Awards 2018: Winners Stories: Gareth Jones of Town Square Spaces
Gareth Jones of Town Square Spaces won Entrepreneur of the Year at this year’s awards. Here’s what he had to say:
1.) How did it feel to win a Caerphilly Business Forum Award?
I’ve been a regular attendee at most of the Caerphilly Business Forum awards evenings over the last decade, seeing a great roll-call of entrepreneurs take this award, so it is a real privilege to be recognised.
2.) How did you find the experience of the Awards night?
Sadly, I wasn’t in attendance as I was still at the office! The feedback from the team was that I missed a great party.
3.) How do you strive to make a difference in the Caerphilly business market?
I don’t see the immediate challenge as being the need to strive within the borough, I think there’s a very collaborative and complementary culture, but we need to do more to increase the size of the market and ensure we are all working to create more opportunities from further afield.
4.) What are your goals for the next 12 months?
We have a number of significant launches that we need to get right, and two or three more projects in the pipeline that I’m hoping we can land swiftly.
5.) What is the biggest lesson you have learned in the last 12 months of your business?
It’s been different this time around. I thought that things would be more straightforward, but everything still takes longer than you’d hope, and the simple things wind up taking up most of your energy.
6.) What one piece of advice would you give to any aspiring entrepreneurs?
Do what you say you’ll do.
